Consensus View
Consensus View is a new UK-based website which uses a wisdom of crowds approach to anticipating market movement. Registered users can make predictions about the movement of equities on the S&P 500, FTSE 100, as well as some trades in the futures and foreign exchange markets as well. These predictions are aggregated in real time and then displayed back to users, who can see the collective prediction of the Consensus View community. A monthly $1,000 prize gives users a monetary incentive to make accurate predictions. Of course, anyone who is able to make reliably accurate predictions about the movement of market prices has far greater monetary incentives to trade on that information directly on the markets. It may be that human pride is a more effective incentive; people love to be recognized as winners, regardless of the prize. It will be interesting to see how accurate the results from Consensus View prove to be.
